Recorded during a period of heavy immersion in the worlds of Muir, Leopold, and Proenneke...trying to live out the theory that I had finally escaped densely populated places and I could roam on the prairie free of the social wasteland that was the Philly suburbs. I thought I was halfway to Alaska and was still planning on finishing the trip, or at the very least sinking what little money I had into some piece of land in central Minnesota where a man can be alone with his thoughts for a few minutes.

I am good at stopping on a dime and taking the nearest exit.

"Go now and then for fresh life-if most of humanity must go through this town stage of development-just as divers hold their breath and come ever and anon to the surface to breathe…Go whether or not you have faith…Form parties, if you must be social, to go to the snow flowers in winter, to sun-flowers in summer…Anyway, go up and away for life; be fleet!"
