about

Failure, or perhaps more accurately, the possibility of failure, provides one with unique perspective. better to cash out, or to ramp up right to the edge of possibility and chance? on the brink is our first true collaboration - we traveled together with the wind on our faces, holes in our shoes and short that one layer that can provide the necessary comforts we tend to rely upon. raw nerves, biting hunger and a drive to see the unknown corners kept us moving forward. we can offer these markers and surveys as proof of our trip and as evidence of what lies slightly beyond our immediate purview but with a combined
effort - within reach.

Hudson, NY resident Nathan McLaughlin explores sound with a focus on the stringed instruments and reel to reel. He views the reel to reel not just a source of effect and texture, but as its own instrument. Focusing on the sounds of acoustic instruments as a companion to the reel to reel, studies are carried out on the philosophical idea of going to the center.

Josh Mason (b. 1983) lives and works in Jacksonville, FL. His music is primarily guitar based and is often accompanied by tape machines, computers, electronics and found sounds. While focused on restraint & reservation, he tends to believes that audio works should go on only as long as they need to. His work has been published by FET Press, Desire Path Recordings, Own Records, Digitalis, Sunshine Ltd. and others.
